Whitney Osuigwe: 15-year old Nigerian-American making waves in International Junior Tennis



Whitney Osuigwe, born on April 17 2002 in Bradenton, Florida, U.S to Desmond Osuigwe, a professional tennis coach originally from Nigeria, is making a name for herself in Junior Tennis.
Only recently, Whitney became the reigning champion of the Junior French Open Tournament after beating fellow American Claire Liu.
Now ranking as the number 1 Junior girls player in the world, according to theInternational Tennis Federation, Whitney Osuigwe is currently on track to win her second major Tennis tournament this year  after advancing to the quarterfinals of the ongoing Wimbledon Championships girls’ singles tournament.
But don’t be deceived; though young (15 years old), Whitney’s wins are by no means the result of an overnight success story.
Whitney’s father, a staff coach at the world renowned IMG Sports Academy, with over 25 years of experience, has had Whitney on the Tennis court since the age of six and over the years Whitney has advanced through the various levels of the academy’s training program. Whitney Osuigwe only successfully turned pro this year.
With persistence and hard work Whitney Osuigwe has become a heavy hitter and is likely to go on making waves. We are seriously rooting for her!

NYSC releases call-up letter for 2017 batch A, stream 2

The management of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has released call-up letters for 2017 Batch A stream II. Prospective corps members have been advised to print out call-up letter to know their state of deployment. This was contained in a statement by the scheme on their twitter page @NYSCHQNG on Wednesday evening. The statement reads: The “Judgement Day” has come. “All things being equal, you should be able to view your state of posting by 6PM today. “ Let the countdown begin! Japanese Airline Confirms Future BTC Payment Option In The Works

Peach Aviation, a low-cost airline in Japan, has confirmed that their plan to allow   Bitcoin (BTC)   as payment is only delayed, not cancelled. Peach Aviation had   initially announced in May 2017   that customers would be able to use Bitcoin as a payment method by the end of the year. However, in December 2017, the plan was postponed until March 2018. The airline had   partnered with crypto exchange BITpoint Japan   for the new BTC payment system as well as for plans to open Bitcoin ATMs at airports around Japan. Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has stated the country is already out of recession “to an extent.” She said this while speaking on African Independent Television (AIT). “We are out, we’re out to an extent and we hope that the figures will reflect the fact that we’re out. CBN sells $2.64bn to authorised dealers

The Central Bank of Nigeria said it sold a total of $2.64bn to authorised dealers in May. According to the CBN’s Economic report for May, the amount indicated 70.8 per cent and 106.1 per cent increase above the levels in the preceding month and the corresponding period of 2016 respectively. The bank attributed the development to the increase in inter-bank sales, matured forwards contracts and Bureau De Change sales during the period under review. It explained that of the aggregate sales, forwards contracts disbursed at maturity were valued at $1.85bn or 70.1 per cent of the total, while inter-bank sales amounted to $0.65bn or 24.7 per cent. The apex bank said the balance of $0.14bn or 5.2 per cent of the total was accounted for by sales to BDCs. The report noted that the bank sustained its effort at ensuring exchange rate stability through interventions and implementation of policies to address supply bottlenecks and enhance liquidity in the foreign exchange market. “C...
