Whitney Osuigwe: 15-year old Nigerian-American making waves in International Junior Tennis



Whitney Osuigwe, born on April 17 2002 in Bradenton, Florida, U.S to Desmond Osuigwe, a professional tennis coach originally from Nigeria, is making a name for herself in Junior Tennis.
Only recently, Whitney became the reigning champion of the Junior French Open Tournament after beating fellow American Claire Liu.
Now ranking as the number 1 Junior girls player in the world, according to theInternational Tennis Federation, Whitney Osuigwe is currently on track to win her second major Tennis tournament this year  after advancing to the quarterfinals of the ongoing Wimbledon Championships girls’ singles tournament.
But don’t be deceived; though young (15 years old), Whitney’s wins are by no means the result of an overnight success story.
Whitney’s father, a staff coach at the world renowned IMG Sports Academy, with over 25 years of experience, has had Whitney on the Tennis court since the age of six and over the years Whitney has advanced through the various levels of the academy’s training program. Whitney Osuigwe only successfully turned pro this year.
With persistence and hard work Whitney Osuigwe has become a heavy hitter and is likely to go on making waves. We are seriously rooting for her!

A woman was shot dead by a US police officer after she called 911 to report hearing noise outside her house. Justine Damond, 40, an Australian woman due to get married next month, thought the noise might be a possible assault taking place outside her home, so she decided to get the police involved. When police arrived outside the home she shared with her fiance, Don Damond, at 5100 block of Washburn Avenue South, in Minneapolis' upscale Fulton neighbourhood, it was claimed that she went outside in her pyjamas and got shot through the door of a squad car by an officer seated inside the vehicle. 5% Salary Increase Not Possible - Ebonyi State Governor

Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi on Friday stated that he has no powers to increase salaries of local government workers. Threatening to sack any civil servant that indulges in politics ahead of the 2019 elections, he also said 13th-month salary will no longer be paid. Umahi spoke at a meeting with members of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Ebonyi state chapter and other affiliated unions at the Government House. New Studies Say Drinking More Coffee Leads To A Longer Life.

According to two newly published studies, greater consumption of coffee could lead to a longer life. One study surveyed more than 520,000 people in 10 European countries, making it the largest study to date on coffee and mortality, and found that drinking more coffee could significantly lower a person's risk of mortality. The second study focused on non-white populations. After surveying over 185,000 African-Americans, Native Americans, Hawaiians, Japanese-Americans, Latinos and whites, the researchers found that coffee increases longevity across various races. Veronica Wendy Setiawan, associate professor of preventative medicine at USC's Keck School of Medicine, who led the study on nonwhite populations said 'people who drank two to four cups a day had an 18% lower risk of death compared with people who did not drink coffee. The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole has informed the general public to beware of fraudulent people who operate fake Facebook account in the name of the state commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni. He said the police boss is not a social media fanatic and he does not have anything to do with the fake accounts in his name on Facebook. Famous-Cole then warned those behind the criminal act to desist or face the full wrath of the law. Hiss tatement reads: 'This is to inform the general public that the Lagos state commissioner of police, CP Fatai Owoseni does not operate a facebook account.
