John Heard, Home Alone Actor Dies At 72



Heard was found dead in a hotel by the maid service ... according to family sources. Police were called to the hotel for a report of a medical emergency, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. The coroner is investigating, and cause of death is unclear at this time ... but police do not suspect foul play.

We do know this ... according to his rep, John had "minor back surgery" Wednesday at Stanford Medical Center, and he was staying at the hotel while he recovered.

Heard's most iconic role was as Peter McCallister, the dad in the "Home Alone" movies.

He also had roles in "Big," "Beaches," "Gladiator" and "Pelican Brief" -- to name just a few -- and also a slew of TV roles on "Miami Vice," "The Sopranos" ... and even the first "Sharknado."

John was 71.

Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has stated the country is already out of recession “to an extent.” She said this while speaking on African Independent Television (AIT). “We are out, we’re out to an extent and we hope that the figures will reflect the fact that we’re out. US serving Senator from Arizona, John McCain, has been diagnosed with brain cancer, according to a Wednesday statement released by his office. The tumor was discovered after the former Republican senator underwent a procedure last week to remove a blood clot. TRAGEDY: 14 people burnt to death as tanker collides with commercial bus

FILE PHOTO: FRSC officials at a scene of an accident No fewer than 14 persons have been reported dead in a ghastly tanker and bus collision in Ile-Ife, Osun State on Sunday. Witnesses say the dead, who were consumed in the inferno, include women and children. The accident was said to have occurred at about 12 noon in front of a fuel station, few metres away from the popular Mayfair roundabout. An 18-seater commercial bus heading from Ondo State to Ibadan collided with a diesel-filled tanker that was negotiating a U-turn on the way, witnesses said. It was learnt that on collision, the bus burst into flames, burning most of the passengers beyond recognition. Witnesses told journalists that the extent of damage resulted from the delayed arrival of rescue teams to the accident spot. Nigerians should expect new data price soon – NCC

The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) has said Nigerians should expect a new data price as soon as an on-going cost-based research is concluded. This was disclosed in Abuja by the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Umar Garba Dambatta during a chat with DAILY POST. According to him, the commission had noticed that the level of data usage was growing across the country and there was need for an affordable and acceptable price floor for data. He said this was necessary in order to forestall a price war in the data sub-segment of the telecommunications industry.
