John Heard, Home Alone Actor Dies At 72



Heard was found dead in a hotel by the maid service ... according to family sources. Police were called to the hotel for a report of a medical emergency, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. The coroner is investigating, and cause of death is unclear at this time ... but police do not suspect foul play.

We do know this ... according to his rep, John had "minor back surgery" Wednesday at Stanford Medical Center, and he was staying at the hotel while he recovered.

Heard's most iconic role was as Peter McCallister, the dad in the "Home Alone" movies.

He also had roles in "Big," "Beaches," "Gladiator" and "Pelican Brief" -- to name just a few -- and also a slew of TV roles on "Miami Vice," "The Sopranos" ... and even the first "Sharknado."

John was 71.

A video recording of a Baltimore police officer planting evidence at the scene of a drug arrest, allegedly so he can arrest a suspect, was captured by the officer's body cam without his knowledge. In the video, the officer can be seen planting the drugs in a cup then walking out to of the area go put on his body camera before returning to the same spot to search for the drugs. "I'm going to check here. Hold on," he said for the benefit of the body cam as though he were just going to that spot for the first time. The officer pretended to search around for some time before he brought out the container where he had earlier hidden the drugs and acted like he just found it. Iran's presidents says his country will 'stand up to' the US

Iran's president says his country will stand up to the United States and reciprocate for any new sanctions that America imposes on the Islamic Republic. Hassan Rouhani says that if Washington, under any pretext, imposes new sanctions against Iran, "we will stand up to the United States." He says the "great nation of Iran will have an appropriate answer" and then adds — without elaborating — that the Iranian parliament will also act. Rouhani's remarks on Wednesday were broadcast on state TV. He spoke a day after the Trump administration announced new, non-nuclear sanctions on Iranians while at the same time warning Iran that it would face consequences for breaching "the spirit" of the nuclear deal with world powers. The mood was grim in East Jerusalem on Sunday as Palestinians voiced concern over the deadliest outbreak of violence between Israel and Palestinians for years. On Saturday Israel sent extra troops into the occupied West Bank and its police broke up a crowd of stone-throwing Palestinians in Jerusalem. The Palestinian Health Ministry said one Palestinian was killed during a separate clash outside the city, taking the death toll from the past two days to seven. Mark Corallo  has resigned from his position as spokesman and communications strategist  for President Donald Trump's  legal team. His resignation comes after weeks of tension between the White House and the President's legal team. In recent weeks, Trump has said that his legal team has not done enough to beat back allegations linked to the federal investigations into Russian efforts to influence last year's election.  The legal team has also complained about the President and the White House's response to revelations concerning the Russia probe including the President's refusal to heed their advice not to publicly discuss or tweet about the Russia investigation and with the White House's handling of reports connected to the probe. At the moment, President Trump is reshuffling his legal team as special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation moves ahead with his investigation.

This viral photo shows a Catholic Christian man praying alongside Muslims in the Wadi el-Joz neighbourhood, outside the Old City of Jerusalem. According to CNN, the man identified as Nidal Aboud stood out as one among many. As the men around him bowed, he made the sign of the cross. As they chanted their prayers, he read the Bible to himself. And as they said "Allahu Akbar" -- God is greatest -- he stood silently and respectfully.
