At least eight people have died in a stampede at a football stadium in Senegal.

Fighting erupted between rival fans at the end of Saturday’s League Cup Final between Stade de Mbour and Union Sportive Ouakam at Demba Diop stadium in Dakar.

With the score 1-1 after 90 minutes, Stade de Mbour scored in the first period of extra time to win 2-1.

The violence erupted at the final whistle.

According to the BBC, police fired tear gas at the clashing supporters who were throwing projectiles, including stones at others which led to panic, a stampede, and collapse of the wall.

At least 49 people were seriously injured in the stampede.

A spokesman for the country’s President, Macky Sall, said campaign for upcoming elections would be suspended on Sunday as a mark of respect, and that there should be “punishments serving as a warning.”

Japanese Airline Confirms Future BTC Payment Option In The Works

Peach Aviation, a low-cost airline in Japan, has confirmed that their plan to allow   Bitcoin (BTC)   as payment is only delayed, not cancelled. Peach Aviation had   initially announced in May 2017   that customers would be able to use Bitcoin as a payment method by the end of the year. However, in December 2017, the plan was postponed until March 2018. The airline had   partnered with crypto exchange BITpoint Japan   for the new BTC payment system as well as for plans to open Bitcoin ATMs at airports around Japan. Japan has   recognized Bitcoin as a legal payment   method in the country since April 2017. An 18-day-old baby has died after she contracted a life-threatening herpes infection through a kiss. Baby Mariana was born healthy on July 1, however, on July 7, which was her parents' wedding day, she became ill and had to be rushed to the hospital where doctors tried unsuccessfully to save her life. Anambra State chapter of pan Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has dismissed the call for secession, saying Igbos cannot afford to exist alone. Speaking in Awka, the state capital, President of Ohaneze in the state, Chief Damian Okeke, explained that Igbos can’t leave Nigeria because they have investments all over the country. Minister of Information and Culture, Lia Mohammed, has shed more light on plans by the Federal government to stop entertainers and movie makers from shooting their jobs outside the shores of Nigeria. Last Saturday, Lai Mohammed disclosed this plan when he spoke at the  Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) House in Lagos.
