'We Are Not Running Any Recruitment Campaign Online' - NECO Issues Scam Alert

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has reacted to news making rounds concerning an online recruitment exercise credited to it.
In a statement released by Azeez Sani, the Head Information Division, 'the attention of the National Examinations Council (NECO) has been drawn to an On-line publication purporting that the Council is currently recruiting new members of staff'.
'The Council enjoins members of the public to disregard the publication, stating that since the present Registrar/Chief Executive assumed office on 1st of August, 2016 no single person has been employed'.
'The Council warns strongly that the publication is the imagination of fraudsters and states emphatically that it has not recruited, is not recruiting and has no immediate plan to recruit. NECO under the able leadership of the Registrar, Professor Charles Uwakwe is on the same page with the change mantra of the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, which is epitomised by transparency and zero tolerance for impunity'.

The Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA, Sani Aliyu, said with the feat, the country has crossed the “tipping point” for the epidemic. Veteran actor, Adebayo Faleti is dead

A renown Yoruba veteran actor, broadcaster, poet and writer, Chief Adebayo Faleti has passed away. Adebayo, an old student of Ibadan Boys High School died Sunday morning at University College Hospital, Ibadan at about 6. am according to sources. Chief Adebayo who happened to be one of the pioneer staff of the first television station in Africa, Western Nigeria Television (WNTV) died at the age of 86. He was responsible for translating Nigeria’s National Anthem from English to Yoruba. He also translated speeches being made by military president of Nigeria Ibrahim Babangida and Chief Ernest Shonekan, Head of National Interim Government of Nigeria, from English to Yoruba. Faleti has published a dictionary containing the formal or official use of Yoruba names. Nigeria: 37 Feared Killed in Fresh Southern Kaduna Crisis

At least 37 people are feared killed and many others seriously injured in fresh crisis that broke out in Kajuru Local Government Area in Southern Kaduna. The latest trouble was said to have started since Sunday when some Fulani youths allegedly went to a village at Ugwan Uka to avenge the killing of their kinsman. Kajuru Local Government is about 50 kilometres from the state capital, Kaduna. The fresh killings show that the efforts by the government at the state and federal levels to check violence have not been effective. The umbrella body of Fulani, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria on Saturday alleged that four of its members were killed by youths from the troubled Southern Kaduna. Eddie and his family died on Sunday at the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki Ebonyi State, following severe burns sustained from the incident. However Briefing newsmen in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, the chairman of SWAN, Mr. Chukwuemeka Opara, said Eddie died as a result of gas explosion which occurred in their compound in Ikom, Cross River State, three weeks ago. The incident reportedly affected his entire household, including his neighbour in whose flat the explosion happened. Kanu said that no part of Nigeria within Biafra territory will be islamised in his life time. A video recording of a Baltimore police officer planting evidence at the scene of a drug arrest, allegedly so he can arrest a suspect, was captured by the officer's body cam without his knowledge. In the video, the officer can be seen planting the drugs in a cup then walking out to of the area go put on his body camera before returning to the same spot to search for the drugs. "I'm going to check here. Hold on," he said for the benefit of the body cam as though he were just going to that spot for the first time. The officer pretended to search around for some time before he brought out the container where he had earlier hidden the drugs and acted like he just found it.
