APC records Landslide Victory In Ambode’s Polling Unit

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has won both the Chairmanship and Councillorship elections in Ward A6 polling Unit 033 located in Ogunmodede College, Papa Epe where the State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode voted on Saturday morning.

At the end of counting of the votes cast, the results showed that the APC polled a total of 299 votes for the Chairmanship election as against one polled by the Labour Party and zero vote polled respectively by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party.

For the Councillorship election in the unit, the APC polled a total of 293 votes as against one polled by Labour Party and zero polled by PDP.

In the second polling unit in the ward, APC polled 298 votes for the Chairmanship election as against zero vote polled by the PDP and Labour.

Also in the councillorship election, APC polled 300 votes while the PDP, Labour and Accord Party all polled zero vote.

John Heard, Home Alone Actor Dies At 72

Heard was found dead in a hotel by the maid service ... according to family sources. Police were called to the hotel for a report of a medical emergency, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. The coroner is investigating, and cause of death is unclear at this time ... but police do not suspect foul play. We do know this ... according to his rep, John had "minor back surgery" Wednesday at Stanford Medical Center, and he was staying at the hotel while he recovered. Heard's most iconic role was as Peter McCallister, the dad in the "Home Alone" movies. He also had roles in "Big," "Beaches," "Gladiator" and "Pelican Brief" -- to name just a few -- and also a slew of TV roles on "Miami Vice," "The Sopranos" ... and even the first "Sharknado." She began studying for her doctorate at 78 years old, and it’s taken her eight years to complete her studies. Now, at 86, Peggy is the oldest student to have ever graduated from the University of Bristol. The road to her EdD wasn’t easy. Born in England to Belgian parents in 1931, Peggy moved back to Belgium when she was six, returning to England as a refugee in 1940. A WAEC candidate from Enugu State, Ali Cynthia Chineche has made 9 A1 in all 9 subjects she sat for in the just released West African Senior School Certificate Examiniation, WASSCE. Last year, a similar result was recorded when a candidate from Kaduna State came out with A1 in all registered subject in the Exam. The results released by WAEC earlier in the week saw the Enugu student making an express A1 in all her nine subjects. Sharing the news, Cynthia’s teacher, Chibulu Austin wrote on Facebook, “Last year was someone from Kaduna state with nine A1’s. “Today we have produced, and I am very much proud teaching this lovely and wonderful lady in a great citadel of learning. “Let the result talk for itself. Full list of Anti-malaria drugs banned by Senate

The Nigerian Senate has listed about 42 anti-malaria drugs that have been banned in Europe but are still sold in hospitals and pharmacies in Nigeria. The lawmakers raised the alarm that all the forty two anti-malaria drugs were still being stockpiled, sold and consumed in the country. Hence, the Senate has mandated its Committee on Health (Secondary and Tertiary), led by Senator Olarewaju Tejuoso, to urgently carry out a holistic investigation into the matter and report back for further action. Police speaks on Apapa mayhem, arrests cop who killed tanker driver

Lagos State Police Command has arrested the policeman, who allegedly shot a tanker driver dead along Burma Road, Apapa. The command said 18 suspected hoodlums who allegedly caused mayhem in the area following the killing have also been apprehended.
