Nigeria Needs Repackaging Not Restructuring - Governor Rochas Okorocha



Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha says Nigeria currently needs repackaging and not restructuring. Some politicians have in recent times called for the restructuring of the country as a lasting solution to the problems and agitations that have lingered over the years. 
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, Governor Okorocha made the call at the 67th Annual Conference of the Broadcasting Corporation of Nigeria, BON, in Owerri yesterday July 17th. According to the governor, restructuring meant different things to the various geo-political zones in the country and that what the country currently needs is “repackaging". The statement in part reads
“Governor Rochas Okorocha has called on proprietors and managers of the Radio and Television Stations in the country operating under the aegis of Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON) who are meeting in Owerri for their 67th Annual Conference to help repackage Nigeria for consumption by the rest of the world because that is what is needed now and not restructuring. He also asked them to come up with programmes that could allow the less privileged in the society who cannot afford the high cost of electronic media to also be heard. Our nation requires repackaging. It is unfortunate that a great nation like ours has not been properly packaged for consumption by the international communities" he said

Mark Corallo  has resigned from his position as spokesman and communications strategist  for President Donald Trump's  legal team. His resignation comes after weeks of tension between the White House and the President's legal team. In recent weeks, Trump has said that his legal team has not done enough to beat back allegations linked to the federal investigations into Russian efforts to influence last year's election.  The legal team has also complained about the President and the White House's response to revelations concerning the Russia probe including the President's refusal to heed their advice not to publicly discuss or tweet about the Russia investigation and with the White House's handling of reports connected to the probe. This viral photo shows a Catholic Christian man praying alongside Muslims in the Wadi el-Joz neighbourhood, outside the Old City of Jerusalem. According to CNN, the man identified as Nidal Aboud stood out as one among many. As the men around him bowed, he made the sign of the cross. Nigerians should expect new data price soon – NCC

The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) has said Nigerians should expect a new data price as soon as an on-going cost-based research is concluded. This was disclosed in Abuja by the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Umar Garba Dambatta during a chat with DAILY POST. According to him, the commission had noticed that the level of data usage was growing across the country and there was need for an affordable and acceptable price floor for data. He said this was necessary in order to forestall a price war in the data sub-segment of the telecommunications industry. A former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has called out the Nigerian Senate for directing the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to supply dollars at a subsidised exchange rate of N200 to intending pilgrims. In a series of tweets on her verified Tweeter handle on Saturday morning, @obyezeks, the Bring Back our Girls (BBOG) co-Convener, lashed out at the lawmakers describing them as “feeling entitled to an indulgent life”. The Senate had in its bid to bring down the cost of pilgrimage recommended the concession of N200 to $1 by the CBN to intending pilgrims, despite the CBN’s benchmark of N305 to $1 for the 2017 Hajj operations. While stating that religious pilgrimage is desirable, Ezekwesili, however, noted that such venture should not be subsidised because it is a luxury consumption in a country like Nigeria where 50 per cent are in poverty bracket.
