Pakistan Girls Education Activist Malala Yousafzai Visit Acting President Yemi Osinbanjo



Acting President Yemi Osinbajo today received the founder of the Malala Fund and girls’ education activist, Malala Yousafzai at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Malala, the Pakistani school girl who survived an attack by the Taliban, met with the Acting President at the State House in Abuja as part of activities to mark her visit to Nigeria which is the second in three years. She visisted Nigeria for the first time in 2014 shortly after theChibok school girls were abducted by Boko Haram members. 
Leading a delegation of seven including her Dad, Malala who is the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate, reiterated her goal to an end to the deprivation of education among the girl child. The meeting with Osinbajo started at about 6pm and was held behind closed doors

Japanese Airline Confirms Future BTC Payment Option In The Works

Peach Aviation, a low-cost airline in Japan, has confirmed that their plan to allow   Bitcoin (BTC)   as payment is only delayed, not cancelled. Peach Aviation had   initially announced in May 2017   that customers would be able to use Bitcoin as a payment method by the end of the year. However, in December 2017, the plan was postponed until March 2018. The airline had   partnered with crypto exchange BITpoint Japan   for the new BTC payment system as well as for plans to open Bitcoin ATMs at airports around Japan. Japan has   recognized Bitcoin as a legal payment   method in the country since April 2017. Few weeks back, Mubadala Group, the major investor from the United Arab Emirates, pulled out of Nigeria’s fourth largest mobile operator, due to a N541 billion debt.   On July 4, 2017, a new board was appointed at Etisalat Nigeria, to handle the smooth transition of the telecommunications company after a reallocation of shares and Boye Olusanya, former deputy managing director of Celtel Nigeria (now Airtel Nigeria), was appointed as the chief executive officer of Etisalat Nigeria to over see the transition. Now, Etisalat Nigeria is changing its brand name to 9Mobile as part of the 3-weeks ultimatum given to it by the parent company to discontinue using the Etisalat brand name in Nigeria.

East African singer, Diamond Platumz's babymama, Zari Hassan has lost her mom Halima Hassan. This is coming barely two months after the death of her ex-husband, Ivan Semwanga. Few weeks ago, Zari announced that her mom was critically ill and asked her fans to pray for her. She died in the early hours of today. Court orders interim forfeiture of Madueke’s property

Former Minister of Petroleum, Alison-Madueke A Federal High Court Lagos on Wednesday ordered the temporary forfeiture of a $37.5 million property on Banana Island, Lagos, and millions of naira and dollars belonging to ex-Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke. The property, situated on the island, was allegedly purchased for the sum of $37.5 million in 2013 by Alison-Madueke. The house is at 3, Block B, Bella Vista, Plot 1, Zone N, Federal Government Layout, Banana Island, Foreshore Estate. The vacation judge, Justice Chuka Obiozor, issued the temporary forfeiture orders following an ex parte application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The ex parte application was brought pursuant to Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, No. 14, 2006 and Section 44 (2) (k) of the Constitution. Nigeria: 37 Feared Killed in Fresh Southern Kaduna Crisis

At least 37 people are feared killed and many others seriously injured in fresh crisis that broke out in Kajuru Local Government Area in Southern Kaduna. The latest trouble was said to have started since Sunday when some Fulani youths allegedly went to a village at Ugwan Uka to avenge the killing of their kinsman. Kajuru Local Government is about 50 kilometres from the state capital, Kaduna. The fresh killings show that the efforts by the government at the state and federal levels to check violence have not been effective. The umbrella body of Fulani, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria on Saturday alleged that four of its members were killed by youths from the troubled Southern Kaduna. Lagos State Task Force Arrests Man Who Allegedly Kidnapped A 6-month-old Baby In Oshodi

The operatives of the Lagos State Task Force during an over-night patrol arrested a 31-year-old man who allegedly abducted a 6 months old baby girl, Darasimi Akinyemi at No 55, Oshodi Road, Oshodi, Lagos The Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force SP Olayinka Egbeyemi disclosed that the suspect identified as Idama Endurance would have been lynched to death but the quick intervention of his men who were on duty saved the situations. SP Egbeyemi disclosed further that preliminary investigations conducted by the Agency revealled that the suspect who stays in the same compound with the mother of the child illegally entered another neighbour's room at the mid-night. CBN sells $2.64bn to authorised dealers

The Central Bank of Nigeria said it sold a total of $2.64bn to authorised dealers in May. According to the CBN’s Economic report for May, the amount indicated 70.8 per cent and 106.1 per cent increase above the levels in the preceding month and the corresponding period of 2016 respectively. The bank attributed the development to the increase in inter-bank sales, matured forwards contracts and Bureau De Change sales during the period under review. It explained that of the aggregate sales, forwards contracts disbursed at maturity were valued at $1.85bn or 70.1 per cent of the total, while inter-bank sales amounted to $0.65bn or 24.7 per cent. The apex bank said the balance of $0.14bn or 5.2 per cent of the total was accounted for by sales to BDCs. The report noted that the bank sustained its effort at ensuring exchange rate stability through interventions and implementation of policies to address supply bottlenecks and enhance liquidity in the foreign exchange market. “C...
