Dance Hit ‘Despacito’ Becomes Most-Streamed Of time Dethroning Justin Bieber's Sorry



Catchy summer dance song “Despacito” has set a record as the most streamed music track of all time, with some 4.6 billion plays across leading platforms, record company Universal Music said on Wednesday.

The song, first released in January in Spanish by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and rapper Daddy Yankee and then in a remixed version featuring Justin Bieber, has topped charts in 35 countries around the world and dominated radio play.

Its 4.6 billion streams surpass the record set by Bieber with his 2015 single “Sorry” and its remixes and make it the most successful Spanish-language pop song of all time.


“Despacito” (“Slowly”) has spent 10 consecutive weeks on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, 17 weeks at No.1 in Spain and 9 weeks in the top spot in Britain, Universal Music said.

Fonsi, previously little known outside Puerto Rico, said it was “truly an honour that ‘Despacito’ is now the most streamed song in history.”

Startup Raises $20 Million to Build 'YouTube on the Blockchain'

Silicon Valley startup Lino is preparing to take on YouTube with a decentralized, collectively-owned video content distribution system that purports to cut out the middleman to more fairly compensate content creators. The company, which faces competition from Streamspace, Flixxo, Viuly and Stream, all of which are developing similar concepts, received a $20 million vote of confidence from prominent Chinese seed investor Zhenfund during a private token sale, it   announced   today. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, has said Nigeria is set to supply 130,000 tonnes of roasted cashew nuts to the Walmart Super Market chain in the United States of America. He said the 130,000 cashew is valued at $7 billion. Chief Ogbeh said the US firm came to Nigeria to request for 130,000 tonnes of roasted cashew nuts and their demand is 130,000 tonnes of cashew nuts per annum, with a total value of $7 billion. “We are in conversations with Walmart, the biggest supermarket chain in the US. Jim Vance, one of the first black major news anchors and Washington DC's longest serving local TV host has died at the age of 75 following a long battle with cancer. Station president and general manager, Jackie Bradford in a statement said, 'Jim Vance was not only the soul of NBC4 but of the entire Washington area. Justine Damond, 40, an Australian woman due to get married next month, thought the noise might be a possible assault taking place outside her home, so she decided to get the police involved.
