Dance Hit ‘Despacito’ Becomes Most-Streamed Of time Dethroning Justin Bieber's Sorry



Catchy summer dance song “Despacito” has set a record as the most streamed music track of all time, with some 4.6 billion plays across leading platforms, record company Universal Music said on Wednesday.

The song, first released in January in Spanish by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and rapper Daddy Yankee and then in a remixed version featuring Justin Bieber, has topped charts in 35 countries around the world and dominated radio play.

Its 4.6 billion streams surpass the record set by Bieber with his 2015 single “Sorry” and its remixes and make it the most successful Spanish-language pop song of all time.


“Despacito” (“Slowly”) has spent 10 consecutive weeks on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, 17 weeks at No.1 in Spain and 9 weeks in the top spot in Britain, Universal Music said.

Fonsi, previously little known outside Puerto Rico, said it was “truly an honour that ‘Despacito’ is now the most streamed song in history.”

Japanese Airline Confirms Future BTC Payment Option In The Works

Peach Aviation, a low-cost airline in Japan, has confirmed that their plan to allow   Bitcoin (BTC)   as payment is only delayed, not cancelled. Peach Aviation had   initially announced in May 2017   that customers would be able to use Bitcoin as a payment method by the end of the year. However, in December 2017, the plan was postponed until March 2018. The airline had   partnered with crypto exchange BITpoint Japan   for the new BTC payment system as well as for plans to open Bitcoin ATMs at airports around Japan. Japan has   recognized Bitcoin as a legal payment   method in the country since April 2017. An 18-day-old baby has died after she contracted a life-threatening herpes infection through a kiss. Baby Mariana was born healthy on July 1, however, on July 7, which was her parents' wedding day, she became ill and had to be rushed to the hospital where doctors tried unsuccessfully to save her life. Iowa couple, Shane and Nicole Sifrit had to cut their wedding reception short to take their 6-day-old daughter to the Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, USA. Anambra State chapter of pan Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has dismissed the call for secession, saying Igbos cannot afford to exist alone. Speaking in Awka, the state capital, President of Ohaneze in the state, Chief Damian Okeke, explained that Igbos can’t leave Nigeria because they have investments all over the country. Minister of Information and Culture, Lia Mohammed, has shed more light on plans by the Federal government to stop entertainers and movie makers from shooting their jobs outside the shores of Nigeria. Last Saturday, Lai Mohammed disclosed this plan when he spoke at the  Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) House in Lagos.
