Roger Federer climbs ATP rankings [See top 20] 2017



Roger Federer climbed to third place in the latest ATP rankings released on Monday.

This came a day after he claimed his record 8th Wimbledon title.

His 19th grand slam win saw Federer jump two places up the rankings, which is still dominated by Britain’s Andy Murray, who was eliminated from Wimbledon in the quarter-finals.

Rafael Nadal, knocked out in the fourth round, holds on to second place.

COAS Tukur Buratai orders troop to capture Abubakar Shekau dead or alive within 40 Days

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has directed Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maiduguri, to capture Abubakar Shekau, self-styled leader of the Boko Haram sect, “dead or alive” Buratai further directed the Theatre commander to do so within 40 days. A statement issued by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, on Friday night, said that Attahiru should “employ all arsenal at the disposal of the Theatre Command to smoke out Shekau wherever he is hiding in Nigeria.” “The general public is please requested to also assist and volunteer information that would lead to the accomplishment of this task,” Usman said. Biafra: Igbos can’t exist on their own – Ohanaeze chieftain

Anambra State chapter of pan Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has dismissed the call for secession, saying Igbos cannot afford to exist alone. Speaking in Awka, the state capital, President of Ohaneze in the state, Chief Damian Okeke, explained that Igbos can’t leave Nigeria because they have investments all over the country. Okeke said rather than call for secession, agitators should use their pro-Biafra stand as a platform to demand a better life for people of the South East. Nigerians should expect new data price soon – NCC

The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) has said Nigerians should expect a new data price as soon as an on-going cost-based research is concluded. This was disclosed in Abuja by the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Umar Garba Dambatta during a chat with DAILY POST. According to him, the commission had noticed that the level of data usage was growing across the country and there was need for an affordable and acceptable price floor for data. He said this was necessary in order to forestall a price war in the data sub-segment of the telecommunications industry.
