BREAKING: Budget: Osinbajo proposes N135.6bn virement



Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has submitted a virement proposal of N135.6 billion to the National Assembly.

The money, if approved, it was gathered, will cover projects across many MDAs, particularly the Ministry of Power/Works/Housing.

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday, said that the plot to Islamise Nigeria is real but would be resisted. Kanu said that no part of Nigeria within Biafra territory will be islamised in his life time. The IPOB leader said this while addressing a huge crowd of Biafra activists when he visited Nri, the ancestral home of Ndigbo. At Nri, Kanu, who was accompanied by his wife, visited the historic “Ohianwehi” revered as “forest of life” by Igbo tradition. The operatives of the Lagos State Task Force during an over-night patrol arrested a 31-year-old man who allegedly abducted a 6 months old baby girl, Darasimi Akinyemi at No 55, Oshodi Road, Oshodi, Lagos The Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force SP Olayinka Egbeyemi disclosed that the suspect identified as Idama Endurance would have been lynched to death but the quick intervention of his men who were on duty saved the situations. Heard was found dead in a hotel by the maid service ... according to family sources. Police were called to the hotel for a report of a medical emergency, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. The coroner is investigating, and cause of death is unclear at this time ... but police do not suspect foul play. We do know this ... according to his rep, John had "minor back surgery" Wednesday at Stanford Medical Center, and he was staying at the hotel while he recovered. Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has stated the country is already out of recession “to an extent.” She said this while speaking on African Independent Television (AIT). “We are out, we’re out to an extent and we hope that the figures will reflect the fact that we’re out. We shouldn’t focus too much on when, what we should focus on is growth. CBN sells $2.64bn to authorised dealers

The Central Bank of Nigeria said it sold a total of $2.64bn to authorised dealers in May. According to the CBN’s Economic report for May, the amount indicated 70.8 per cent and 106.1 per cent increase above the levels in the preceding month and the corresponding period of 2016 respectively. The bank attributed the development to the increase in inter-bank sales, matured forwards contracts and Bureau De Change sales during the period under review. It explained that of the aggregate sales, forwards contracts disbursed at maturity were valued at $1.85bn or 70.1 per cent of the total, while inter-bank sales amounted to $0.65bn or 24.7 per cent. The apex bank said the balance of $0.14bn or 5.2 per cent of the total was accounted for by sales to BDCs. The report noted that the bank sustained its effort at ensuring exchange rate stability through interventions and implementation of policies to address supply bottlenecks and enhance liquidity in the foreign exchange market. “C...
