BREAKING: Budget: Osinbajo proposes N135.6bn virement



Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has submitted a virement proposal of N135.6 billion to the National Assembly.

The money, if approved, it was gathered, will cover projects across many MDAs, particularly the Ministry of Power/Works/Housing.

This was disclosed in Abuja by the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Umar Garba Dambatta during a chat with DAILY POST. Chelsea Coach Antonio Conte Signs 2Year Contract Extension

Good news for  Chelsea  fans!  Antonio Conte  has just signed a two-year contract extension with us that'll see him stay at Stamford Bridge till 2021. Speaking to Chelsea FC's official website about his new contract, Conte said: "'I  am very happy to have signed a new contract with Chelsea. We worked extremely hard in our first year to achieve something amazing, which I am very proud of. Now we must work even harder to stay at the top. The Chelsea fans have given me so much support since I arrived here one year ago and it is important we continue to succeed together."   Last season, Conte took the Blues from tenth in the Premier League to the peak and to their fifth league title under Roman Abramovich.

Nigeria reaches major landmark in fight against HIV/AIDS

The Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA, Sani Aliyu, said with the feat, the country has crossed the “tipping point” for the epidemic. APC records Landslide Victory In Ambode’s Polling Unit

Ambode casting his vote on Saturday The All Progressive Congress (APC) has won both the Chairmanship and Councillorship elections in Ward A6 polling Unit 033 located in Ogunmodede College, Papa Epe where the State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode voted on Saturday morning. At the end of counting of the votes cast, the results showed that the APC polled a total of 299 votes for the Chairmanship election as against one polled by the Labour Party and zero vote polled respectively by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party. For the Councillorship election in the unit, the APC polled a total of 293 votes as against one polled by Labour Party and zero polled by PDP. In the second polling unit in the ward, APC polled 298 votes for the Chairmanship election as against zero vote polled by the PDP and Labour. Veteran actor, Adebayo Faleti is dead

A renown Yoruba veteran actor, broadcaster, poet and writer, Chief Adebayo Faleti has passed away. Adebayo, an old student of Ibadan Boys High School died Sunday morning at University College Hospital, Ibadan at about 6. am according to sources. Chief Adebayo who happened to be one of the pioneer staff of the first television station in Africa, Western Nigeria Television (WNTV) died at the age of 86. He was responsible for translating Nigeria’s National Anthem from English to Yoruba. He also translated speeches being made by military president of Nigeria Ibrahim Babangida and Chief Ernest Shonekan, Head of National Interim Government of Nigeria, from English to Yoruba. Faleti has published a dictionary containing the formal or official use of Yoruba names. The management of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has released call-up letters for 2017 Batch A stream II. Prospective corps members have been advised to print out call-up letter to know their state of deployment. This was contained in a statement by the scheme on their twitter page @NYSCHQNG on Wednesday evening. The statement reads: The “Judgement Day” has come. “All things being equal, you should be able to view your state of posting by 6PM today. “ Let the countdown begin! Nigeria: 37 Feared Killed in Fresh Southern Kaduna Crisis

At least 37 people are feared killed and many others seriously injured in fresh crisis that broke out in Kajuru Local Government Area in Southern Kaduna. The latest trouble was said to have started since Sunday when some Fulani youths allegedly went to a village at Ugwan Uka to avenge the killing of their kinsman. Kajuru Local Government is about 50 kilometres from the state capital, Kaduna. The fresh killings show that the efforts by the government at the state and federal levels to check violence have not been effective. The umbrella body of Fulani, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria on Saturday alleged that four of its members were killed by youths from the troubled Southern Kaduna. The group had alleged that youths from Kadara and Gwari communities in Kajuru were responsible for the killings. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo today received the founder of the Malala Fund and girls’ education activist, Malala Yousafzai at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Malala, the Pakistani school girl who survived an attack by the Taliban, met with the Acting President at the State House in Abuja as part of activities to mark her visit to Nigeria which is the second in three years. Eddie and his family died on Sunday at the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki Ebonyi State, following severe burns sustained from the incident. However Briefing newsmen in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, the chairman of SWAN, Mr. Chukwuemeka Opara, said Eddie died as a result of gas explosion which occurred in their compound in Ikom, Cross River State, three weeks ago. The incident reportedly affected his entire household, including his neighbour in whose flat the explosion happened. Opara said, “Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Ebonyi chapter, joins other chapters across the nation to mourn its departed National Vice President, South-South zone, Mr. Eddie Bekon, who passed on at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, on Sunday, July 16, 2017.” Opara disclosed that the family had been in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital since they were admitted, stating that the explosion claimed the lives of Eddie’s wife and one of his children, while his other children...
