Details of Morata’s transfer to Chelsea revealed



More details have emerged, after Chelsea confirmed on Wednesday, that they have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata.

The Premier League champions will pay an initial fee of £58million for the 24-year-old striker, who is set to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.

It is almost £20m less than the initial £75m Manchester United paid for Romelu Lukaku, who had been Chelsea’s top target.

The £58m will still eclipse Chelsea’s previous record spend of £50m on Fernando Torres in 2011. It is believed the add-ons could see the final fee rise towards £70m.

Morata is currently in the US on a pre-season tour with Madrid, but will now leave to complete the deal.

Victoria Beckham has been called out by the design director at Land Rover after she claimed she designed a special edition of the Range Rover for her husband David Beckham. At the launch of a special VB Evoque, the former Spice Girl claimed: "I’ve designed a car that I want to drive, a car I think David wants to drive." Eddie and his family died on Sunday at the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki Ebonyi State, following severe burns sustained from the incident. However Briefing newsmen in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, the chairman of SWAN, Mr. Chukwuemeka Opara, said Eddie died as a result of gas explosion which occurred in their compound in Ikom, Cross River State, three weeks ago. The incident reportedly affected his entire household, including his neighbour in whose flat the explosion happened. APC Sweeps Lagos LG Polls

The All Progressives Congress has reportedly won the council election held in all the 20 Local Government Areas and the 37 Local Council Development Areas on Saturday. Early results released by the Lagos Television showed that the APC took several LGAs and LCDAs including Ojokoro, Eti Osa, Lagos Island, Badagry Central, Onigbongbo, Odiolowo/Ojuwoye, Ikorodu West, Ejigbo, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Epe, Lagos Island East, Badagry West, Surulere, Ikorodu Central, Ikoyi/Obalende, Agboyi-Ketu, Eredo and others. Some of the results from the LGs and LCDAs showed the ruling party winning. In Lagos Island LG, APC won with 14,692 votes while PDP got 925 votes, with the Labour Party taking third place with 1211 votes.
