Nigerians On Twitter Say Former Governors Serving As Senators Or Ministers Should Not Draw State Pension



Channels TV conducted a Twitter poll on the subject and Nigerians are overwhelmingly against the idea. Constitutionally, former governors are entitled to a sizeable pension.

The Largest Brick Dome

The Duomo in Florence has the largest brick dome ever and is often referred to as the “Birthplace of the Renaissance”. The dome was a huge challenge since ancient domes in Italy such as the Pantheon in Rome had been constructed using concrete but the recipe for concrete had been lost in the Dark Ages.  Medieval gothic cathedrals relied on flying buttresses to support their massive stone weight but architects and engineers of the budding Renaissance were determined not to use flamboyant Gothic and wanted to look back to the simple, clean lines of their Roman past. The architect Filippo Brunelleschi came up with a solution. The Duomo is actually two domes. The inner dome is made of sandstone and marble. The outer dome is made of brick-and-mortar—each brick carefully designed, shaped, and fired to support the dome. The huge aircraft , dubbed ‘the flying penthouse’ features an entertainment and study lounge, dedicated dining spaces, an en-suite master bedroom with a 42-inch TV, a dressing room and an enormous hotel-style bathroom complete with a shower.  The plane is a remodelled Boeing 787 Dreamliner which is a commercial aircraft that carry between 240 and 335 passengers. But this one has been transformed into a 40-passenger private jet and is so well-equipped it resembles a flying hotel. The aircraft, which is worth £230 million, is on display at the London airport as part of the launch  of bespoke travel packages by Deer Jet. Unpaid Salaries: Benue State Civil Servant And Father Of 3 Resort To Hawking Groundnut To Survive

Mr Godwin Oga, a 46 year old staff of Benue State Environmental Sanitation Agency (BENSESA) has resorted to hawking groundnuts on the streets of Makurdi, the state capital. Speaking to Benue News, the father of three said he started the business last month after he was unable to provide food for his family following governments inability to pay salaries for several months.  “I have so far spent 15 years in service with BENSESA and have also been screened in the ongoing state government screening exercise. “I started this groundnut business earlier in June this year to prevent hunger and starvation of my family and to buy medications” He explained.  Mr Oga added that despite being a laughing stock, he preferred the business to stealing, urging other civil servants in the same situation as his, to also seek alternative means of survival.  The state government owes upwards of five months unpaid salaries to state governments workers and eight months for local ...

Lagos State Task Force Arrests Man Who Allegedly Kidnapped A 6-month-old Baby In Oshodi

The operatives of the Lagos State Task Force during an over-night patrol arrested a 31-year-old man who allegedly abducted a 6 months old baby girl, Darasimi Akinyemi at No 55, Oshodi Road, Oshodi, Lagos The Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force SP Olayinka Egbeyemi disclosed that the suspect identified as Idama Endurance would have been lynched to death but the quick intervention of his men who were on duty saved the situations. SP Egbeyemi disclosed further that preliminary investigations conducted by the Agency revealled that the suspect who stays in the same compound with the mother of the child illegally entered another neighbour's room at the mid-night. East African singer, Diamond Platumz's babymama, Zari Hassan has lost her mom Halima Hassan. This is coming barely two months after the death of her ex-husband, Ivan Semwanga. Few weeks ago, Zari announced that her mom was critically ill and asked her fans to pray for her. She died in the early hours of today. Google Play Protect Now Rolling Out To Android Devices

Google Play Protect is now rolling out to all eligible Android devices, the Alphabet-owned Internet giant confirmed in a statement provided to Engadget. The latest anti-malware solution is being distributed to smartphones and tablets running Google Mobile Services (GMS) 11 and later versions of the API collection, the company said. The Mountain View, California-based firm is currently focused on rolling out the main Google Play Protect system service that’s integrated into the Settings app on your device, where you’ll find it located under the “Security” section of the “Google” menu. The solution itself is relatively automated in nature and will automatically scan all of the apps installed on your smartphone or tablet to make sure they are free of any malicious code. The service will also notify you of any suspicious findings, but if you’re interested in performing a manual check or revisiting its scanning logs, you can do so in its settings.
