Check Out Japan Crying Baby Contest. See Photos



Different people, Different Cultures! So there is a Crying Baby Contest (Naki Sumo) that holds in Japan every year. This year, the competition held at the Shinto shrine in Yokohama, near Tokyo on Monday July 17th.
The contest pairs up little toddlers with sumo wrestlers who will attempt to get the babies to cry. The toddler who cries the longest and loudest is crowned the winner.
As bizarre as it may be, the crying baby contest has been practised by Japenese indigenes for well over 400 years. Japanese parents voluntarily bring their babies to the contest, and truly believe that sumo-induced crying keeps their children in good health.

The Largest Brick Dome

The Duomo in Florence has the largest brick dome ever and is often referred to as the “Birthplace of the Renaissance”. The dome was a huge challenge since ancient domes in Italy such as the Pantheon in Rome had been constructed using concrete but the recipe for concrete had been lost in the Dark Ages.  Medieval gothic cathedrals relied on flying buttresses to support their massive stone weight but architects and engineers of the budding Renaissance were determined not to use flamboyant Gothic and wanted to look back to the simple, clean lines of their Roman past. The architect Filippo Brunelleschi came up with a solution. The Duomo is actually two domes. The inner dome is made of sandstone and marble. The outer dome is made of brick-and-mortar—each brick carefully designed, shaped, and fired to support the dome. Plot To Islamise Nigeria Is Real – Nnamdi Kanu

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday, said that the plot to Islamise Nigeria is real but would be resisted. Kanu said that no part of Nigeria within Biafra territory will be islamised in his life time. The IPOB leader said this while addressing a huge crowd of Biafra activists when he visited Nri, the ancestral home of Ndigbo. At Nri, Kanu, who was accompanied by his wife, visited the historic “Ohianwehi” revered as “forest of life” by Igbo tradition. It is believed that it was where the first burnt offering was scarified by the Jewish Igbo ancestors when they migrated from Israel about 300 years ago. 5% Salary Increase Not Possible - Ebonyi State Governor

Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi on Friday stated that he has no powers to increase salaries of local government workers. Threatening to sack any civil servant that indulges in politics ahead of the 2019 elections, he also said 13th-month salary will no longer be paid. Umahi spoke at a meeting with members of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Ebonyi state chapter and other affiliated unions at the Government House. His words: “We are doing everything to protect the local government but unfortunately the present chairmen said they cannot afford to pay the 5 percent salary increase and I don’t have the powers to actually increase LG workers salaries. “If the situation improves, I will increase the salary again. According to her, she swallowed her pride and moved in because of Rob but had to move out after she got disrespected.  “About a month after Dream was born, I moved in with Rob at Kylie’s house for about a week. Man Bags 16 Years Jail Term For Killing 21 Cats...

A Santa Clara County Superior Court judge has sentenced a 26-year-old California man to 16 years in prison for killing 21 cats, some of which he lured from people's homes. Robert Roy Farmer pleaded guilty last year to 21 felony counts of animal cruelty and one count each of misdemeanor battery and being under the influence. The cats began mysteriously disappearing from San Jose's Cambrian Park neighborhood in September 2015. Then cats began turning up dead, the Mercury News of San Jose reported Friday Farmer was found Oct. 8, 2015 in a Home Depot parking lot, sleeping in his car with a dead cat curled up in the center console. In his car, police found chunks of fur, blood, fur-covered gloves and a hunting knife. from associated press.

Boko Haram Suicide Bombers Attack Two IDP Camps In Borno, Kill 7

Suspected Boko Haram suicide bombers last night attacked two IDP camps in Dalori, Borno state killing at least seven persons. According to eyewitnesses, the first attack happened at about 9pm last night while the second bomb attack happened in the early hours of today. Three persons were killed in the first attack while four otrhers were killed in the second one. 15 other IDPs sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatement at the state general hospital.
