Lagos state government hands over teachers accused of sexual abuse of students to police


 teachers of Nazareth Junior/Senior College, Ibowon, Epe who were alleged to have defiled some students of the school have been handed over to the Police by the Lagos State Government.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Adesina Odeyemi, who disclosed this in his office, said that the arrest was effected following the confession by the teachers to sexual abuse at a Personnel Management Board (PMB) meeting set up by the Ministry on the issue.

Odeyemi said that the recommendations of the PMB will be implemented to the letter by the State Government as a way of demonstrating its zero tolerance for child abuse in the State. 

The Permanent Secretary explained further that the students, who were the complainants, had already offered statements at the Lagos State Police Command, while necessary steps towards prosecution will be taken as soon the Police conclude their investigation. 

He said further that in line with established procedures, the State Government has taken the affected students to the hospital for comprehensive medical examination to aid in the Police investigation.
The Permanent Secretary pledged that the State Government would ensure that any student found to have been abused and traumatised by the event would undergo necessary counselling and rehabilitation at appropriate government agencies.

A renown Yoruba veteran actor, broadcaster, poet and writer, Chief Adebayo Faleti has passed away. Adebayo, an old student of Ibadan Boys High School died Sunday morning at University College Hospital, Ibadan at about 6. am according to sources. Chief Adebayo who happened to be one of the pioneer staff of the first television station in Africa, Western Nigeria Television (WNTV) died at the age of 86. He was responsible for translating Nigeria’s National Anthem from English to Yoruba. He also translated speeches being made by military president of Nigeria Ibrahim Babangida and Chief Ernest Shonekan, Head of National Interim Government of Nigeria, from English to Yoruba. Startup Raises $20 Million to Build 'YouTube on the Blockchain'

Silicon Valley startup Lino is preparing to take on YouTube with a decentralized, collectively-owned video content distribution system that purports to cut out the middleman to more fairly compensate content creators.
