APC records Landslide Victory In Ambode’s Polling Unit

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has won both the Chairmanship and Councillorship elections in Ward A6 polling Unit 033 located in Ogunmodede College, Papa Epe where the State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode voted on Saturday morning.

At the end of counting of the votes cast, the results showed that the APC polled a total of 299 votes for the Chairmanship election as against one polled by the Labour Party and zero vote polled respectively by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party.

For the Councillorship election in the unit, the APC polled a total of 293 votes as against one polled by Labour Party and zero polled by PDP.

In the second polling unit in the ward, APC polled 298 votes for the Chairmanship election as against zero vote polled by the PDP and Labour.

Also in the councillorship election, APC polled 300 votes while the PDP, Labour and Accord Party all polled zero vote.

Nigeria: 37 Feared Killed in Fresh Southern Kaduna Crisis

At least 37 people are feared killed and many others seriously injured in fresh crisis that broke out in Kajuru Local Government Area in Southern Kaduna. The latest trouble was said to have started since Sunday when some Fulani youths allegedly went to a village at Ugwan Uka to avenge the killing of their kinsman. Kajuru Local Government is about 50 kilometres from the state capital, Kaduna. The fresh killings show that the efforts by the government at the state and federal levels to check violence have not been effective. The umbrella body of Fulani, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria on Saturday alleged that four of its members were killed by youths from the troubled Southern Kaduna. The group had alleged that youths from Kadara and Gwari communities in Kajuru were responsible for the killings. Heard was found dead in a hotel by the maid service ... according to family sources. Police were called to the hotel for a report of a medical emergency, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. The coroner is investigating, and cause of death is unclear at this time ... but police do not suspect foul play. Lagos builds road to connect Ikorodu with Lagos-Ibadan expressway

The Lagos state government says it has started the construction of the road project that would link the Agric area of Ikorodu to Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Akinwunmi Ambode, the state governor, said this on Tuesday at a stakeholders’ meeting on the road. He said it would cut through the Arepo area of Ogun state, PUNCH reports. Represented by Rotimi Ogunleye, the state commissioner for commerce, industries and cooperatives, the governor said the state has also approved the reconstruction of Igbe/Igbogbo/Bola Tinubu network of roads. He added that the road would be a dual carriageway and would also serve as another link to Sagamu. “The Agric-Isawo-Konu-Arepo Road will have a link bridge that will connect the state to the Ogun State boundary, which will link the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway,” Ambode said.
