Check Out Japan Crying Baby Contest. See Photos



Different people, Different Cultures! So there is a Crying Baby Contest (Naki Sumo) that holds in Japan every year. This year, the competition held at the Shinto shrine in Yokohama, near Tokyo on Monday July 17th.
The contest pairs up little toddlers with sumo wrestlers who will attempt to get the babies to cry. The toddler who cries the longest and loudest is crowned the winner.
As bizarre as it may be, the crying baby contest has been practised by Japenese indigenes for well over 400 years. Japanese parents voluntarily bring their babies to the contest, and truly believe that sumo-induced crying keeps their children in good health.

Minister of information and culture Lai Mohammed sheds light On FG's plan to stop movie and music production abroad

Minister of Information and Culture, Lia Mohammed, has shed more light on plans by the Federal government to stop entertainers and movie makers from shooting their jobs outside the shores of Nigeria. Last Saturday, Lai Mohammed disclosed this plan when he spoke at the  Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) House in Lagos. In a recent chat with Premiumtimes, Lai Mohammed said the proposed ban would help tackle the exploitation of perceived loopholes in the Nigerian Broadcasting Code, NBC. “The NBC code today as it stands has been exploited and not defined and that’s why movies being directed by Nigerians with Nigerian actors, actresses can be shot in South Africa and then brought back to be consumed in Nigeria. All we are saying is that we are going to amend the code in a manner that it will not be possible for you to exploit any loophole there to go and shoot outside Nigeria film, music or programs that are meant to be consumed in Nigeria". Popular musician Innocent Idibia also known as Tuface who is on a tour in Borno where he thrilled the troops and dedicated a song to the IDPs. The African Queen crooner emphasised the need for the peace to rain in the country, especially in the northeast. He commended the Nigerian Army for the gallant fight they are putting in the counter insurgency war. Tuface who is the ambassador of the UNHCR has been on a tour in Borno state interacting with displaced persons in Ngala and camps around Maiduguri. The partnership between the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and ace singer Tuface Innocent Idibia is to give a voice to happenings in northeast Nigeria. Victoria Beckham has been called out by the design director at Land Rover after she claimed she designed a special edition of the Range Rover for her husband David Beckham. At the launch of a special VB Evoque, the former Spice Girl claimed: "I’ve designed a car that I want to drive, a car I think David wants to drive." This claim incensed Gerry McGovern, the real designer, and he addressed it at a public event last week. The governor said the foundation which is privately run has creative writing and women literacy programmes aimed at improving the literacy skills among women and children:” As I was watching the documentary, I cannot control tears in my eyes. Biafra: Igbos can’t exist on their own – Ohanaeze chieftain

Anambra State chapter of pan Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has dismissed the call for secession, saying Igbos cannot afford to exist alone. Speaking in Awka, the state capital, President of Ohaneze in the state, Chief Damian Okeke, explained that Igbos can’t leave Nigeria because they have investments all over the country. Okeke said rather than call for secession, agitators should use their pro-Biafra stand as a platform to demand a better life for people of the South East. He insisted that Igbo leaders will not support agitation that may lead to war. Okeke noted that anybody who witnessed the Civil War like he did, would not want to experience another war.
