'We Are Not Running Any Recruitment Campaign Online' - NECO Issues Scam Alert

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has reacted to news making rounds concerning an online recruitment exercise credited to it.
In a statement released by Azeez Sani, the Head Information Division, 'the attention of the National Examinations Council (NECO) has been drawn to an On-line publication purporting that the Council is currently recruiting new members of staff'.
'The Council enjoins members of the public to disregard the publication, stating that since the present Registrar/Chief Executive assumed office on 1st of August, 2016 no single person has been employed'.
'The Council warns strongly that the publication is the imagination of fraudsters and states emphatically that it has not recruited, is not recruiting and has no immediate plan to recruit. NECO under the able leadership of the Registrar, Professor Charles Uwakwe is on the same page with the change mantra of the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, which is epitomised by transparency and zero tolerance for impunity'.

Lagos state government hands over teachers accused of sexual abuse of students to police

 teachers of Nazareth Junior/Senior College, Ibowon, Epe who were alleged to have defiled some students of the school have been handed over to the Police by the Lagos State Government. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Adesina Odeyemi, who disclosed this in his office, said that the arrest was effected following the confession by the teachers to sexual abuse at a Personnel Management Board (PMB) meeting set up by the Ministry on the issue. Parthenon Of Books: Artist Uses 100,000 Banned Books To Build A Full-Size Parthenon At Historic Nazi Book Burning Site

Argentinian artist Marta Minujín, 74, has created a monumental replica of the Greek Parthenon from 100,000 copies of banned books. According to the artist, it symbolizes the resistance to political repression. The Parthenon of Books in Kassel, Germany is part of the Documenta 14 art festival. With the help of students from Kassel University, Minujín identified over 170 titles that were or are banned in different countries around the world, and constructed the full-size replica of the iconic temple from those books, plastic sheeting, and steel. FG seeks more input into civil service reforms

The Federal Government is receiving more inputs from civil societies and other stakeholders to strengthen the National Strategy for Public Service Reforms (NSPSR). This was disclosed yesterday in Abuja by the Director-General of the Bureau for Public Service Reforms (BPSR) Dr Joe Abah at the Revalidation Session of the NSPSR. He said the reforms was first articulated and completed in 2009 as a coordinating mechanism for integrated reforms but articulated recent issues like the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and improvement in the budgeting system. According to him, although key aspects of the strategy have been implemented, it has never formally been approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC). The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF) Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita who is the Vice Chairman of the Steering Committee on the reforms, said it was aimed at developing and deepening the capacity of government to consistently translate national strategic intents into action....
