Nigeria Needs Repackaging Not Restructuring - Governor Rochas Okorocha



Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha says Nigeria currently needs repackaging and not restructuring. Some politicians have in recent times called for the restructuring of the country as a lasting solution to the problems and agitations that have lingered over the years. 
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, Governor Okorocha made the call at the 67th Annual Conference of the Broadcasting Corporation of Nigeria, BON, in Owerri yesterday July 17th. According to the governor, restructuring meant different things to the various geo-political zones in the country and that what the country currently needs is “repackaging". The statement in part reads
“Governor Rochas Okorocha has called on proprietors and managers of the Radio and Television Stations in the country operating under the aegis of Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON) who are meeting in Owerri for their 67th Annual Conference to help repackage Nigeria for consumption by the rest of the world because that is what is needed now and not restructuring. He also asked them to come up with programmes that could allow the less privileged in the society who cannot afford the high cost of electronic media to also be heard. Our nation requires repackaging. It is unfortunate that a great nation like ours has not been properly packaged for consumption by the international communities" he said

Nigeria's 2017 budget, despite being signed into law, still being amended

Nigeria's 2017 budget, signed into law by the acting president a month ago, has still not been finalised and is being amended due to disagreements between parliament and the presidency, two sources familiar with the matter said. Any delays to government spending could hobble recovery in Africa's largest economy, now in its second year of recession. The 2017 budget, still not finalised in the second half of the year, was meant to spark that return to growth after the first downturn in a quarter of a century. The presidency and senior lawmakers had also promised that it would avoid the severe delays in passing the previous year's budget, which was signed off in May 2016 -- five months into the budget year. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo signed Nigeria's 2107 budget into law last month. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo today received the founder of the Malala Fund and girls’ education activist, Malala Yousafzai at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Malala, the Pakistani school girl who survived an attack by the Taliban, met with the Acting President at the State House in Abuja as part of activities to mark her visit to Nigeria which is the second in three years. Google Play Protect is now rolling out to all eligible Android devices, the Alphabet-owned Internet giant confirmed in a statement provided to Engadget. The latest anti-malware solution is being distributed to smartphones and tablets running Google Mobile Services (GMS) 11 and later versions of the API collection, the company said. The Mountain View, California-based firm is currently focused on rolling out the main Google Play Protect system service that’s integrated into the Settings app on your device, where you’ll find it located under the “Security” section of the “Google” menu.
