CHELSEA TO OFFER €80M FOR MORATA

Chelsea are ready to offer €80 million for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata after missing out on Romelu Lukaku, according to AS . Morata had seemingly been on course to join Manchester United, with Chelsea having been favourites to sign Lukaku, but the situation has now been turned on its head. With Lukaku on the brink of finalising a move to United, Premier League champions Chelsea will try to sign Morata on either a four or five-year contract. The Spaniard who scored 20 goals last season is unhappy at Madrid where his first team opportunities are limited and will consider making the switch to Chelsea where he will be tasked with leading the line.

Man kidnaps himself and demands N60million from siblings

The Lagos state police command have arrested one Ufom Udoh for allegedly staging his kidnap in order to defraud his siblings of N60 million. According to the state police command's spokesperson, Olarinde Famous-Cole, Udoh had left his home on July 3rd and connived with his friend, Paul Okiemute, to defraud his brother, Victor Udoh and his other siblings of N60 million by way of staging his own kidnap. Victor had on July 3rd reported a case of a kidnapped person in Lagos state to the police. The case was then transferred to the state's anti-kidnapping unit, who during its investigation, traced all calls the complainant got on his phone. This led to the arrest of one Paul Okiemute. When arrested, Okiemute, confessed that Udoh staged his own kidnap to collect money from his elder brother due to his financial problems.  “Udoh was not kidnapped. It was all planned. He staged his own kidnap so that his elder brother can pay ransom.”the force spokesperson said...

Japanese Airline Confirms Future BTC Payment Option In The Works

Peach Aviation, a low-cost airline in Japan, has confirmed that their plan to allow   Bitcoin (BTC)   as payment is only delayed, not cancelled. Peach Aviation had   initially announced in May 2017   that customers would be able to use Bitcoin as a payment method by the end of the year. However, in December 2017, the plan was postponed until March 2018. The airline had   partnered with crypto exchange BITpoint Japan   for the new BTC payment system as well as for plans to open Bitcoin ATMs at airports around Japan. Japan has   recognized Bitcoin as a legal payment   method in the country since April 2017. 5% Salary Increase Not Possible - Ebonyi State Governor

Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi on Friday stated that he has no powers to increase salaries of local government workers. Threatening to sack any civil servant that indulges in politics ahead of the 2019 elections, he also said 13th-month salary will no longer be paid. Umahi spoke at a meeting with members of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Ebonyi state chapter and other affiliated unions at the Government House. His words: “We are doing everything to protect the local government but unfortunately the present chairmen said they cannot afford to pay the 5 percent salary increase and I don’t have the powers to actually increase LG workers salaries. “If the situation improves, I will increase the salary again. Regulators are in uncharted territory trying to regulate illegal cryptocurrency public coin offerings, US officials told Congress today. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chairman John Clayton had harsh words for those dodging SEC regulations today at a Senate banking committee hearing: “Many ICOs [initial coin offerings] are being conducted illegally. Startup Raises $20 Million to Build 'YouTube on the Blockchain'

Silicon Valley startup Lino is preparing to take on YouTube with a decentralized, collectively-owned video content distribution system that purports to cut out the middleman to more fairly compensate content creators. The company, which faces competition from Streamspace, Flixxo, Viuly and Stream, all of which are developing similar concepts, received a $20 million vote of confidence from prominent Chinese seed investor Zhenfund during a private token sale, it   announced   today. Explaining the company's mission, its website says that YouTube holds "enormous power" over creators and focuses on maximizing profit, which can bring it into conflict with its actual creators.
