popular Uyo based catholic priest and radio preacher known as Rev. Fr. Patrick Henry Edet announced his resignation from Catholic church, earlier today.
According to a report shared by Special Assistant on Media to Akwa Ibom State Governor, Aniekeme Finbarr, Fr. Patrick is really happy as he ceases to be a catholic priest in spirit and soul' . Read his post below...
''JUST IN: Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Patrick Henry Edet has resigned from the catholic priesthood, quits the Catholic Church. He says he should be addressed as Reverend Patrick Edet. And on a lighter note, he says he can still be called Fr.
"From Today Henceforth, I cease to be a Catholic Priest, in my spirit and in my soul... I forgive those who will criticize me, I live for God...I seek freedom for my soul. As I leave, I leave smiling, I AM SO HAPPY THAT I AM FREE".

Nigeria's 2017 budget, despite being signed into law, still being amended

Nigeria's 2017 budget, signed into law by the acting president a month ago, has still not been finalised and is being amended due to disagreements between parliament and the presidency, two sources familiar with the matter said. Any delays to government spending could hobble recovery in Africa's largest economy, now in its second year of recession. The 2017 budget, still not finalised in the second half of the year, was meant to spark that return to growth after the first downturn in a quarter of a century. The presidency and senior lawmakers had also promised that it would avoid the severe delays in passing the previous year's budget, which was signed off in May 2016 -- five months into the budget year. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo signed Nigeria's 2107 budget into law last month. The Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA, Sani Aliyu, said with the feat, the country has crossed the “tipping point” for the epidemic. Eddie and his family died on Sunday at the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki Ebonyi State, following severe burns sustained from the incident. However Briefing newsmen in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, the chairman of SWAN, Mr. Chukwuemeka Opara, said Eddie died as a result of gas explosion which occurred in their compound in Ikom, Cross River State, three weeks ago. The incident reportedly affected his entire household, including his neighbour in whose flat the explosion happened. Peach Aviation, a low-cost airline in Japan, has confirmed that their plan to allow   Bitcoin (BTC)   as payment is only delayed, not cancelled. Peach Aviation had   initially announced in May 2017   that customers would be able to use Bitcoin as a payment method by the end of the year. However, in December 2017, the plan was postponed until March 2018. The airline had   partnered with crypto exchange BITpoint Japan   for the new BTC payment system as well as for plans to open Bitcoin ATMs at airports around Japan. Japan has   recognized Bitcoin as a legal payment   method in the country since April 2017. A video recording of a Baltimore police officer planting evidence at the scene of a drug arrest, allegedly so he can arrest a suspect, was captured by the officer's body cam without his knowledge. In the video, the officer can be seen planting the drugs in a cup then walking out to of the area go put on his body camera before returning to the same spot to search for the drugs. "I'm going to check here. Hold on," he said for the benefit of the body cam as though he were just going to that spot for the first time. The officer pretended to search around for some time before he brought out the container where he had earlier hidden the drugs and acted like he just found it. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, has said Nigeria is set to supply 130,000 tonnes of roasted cashew nuts to the Walmart Super Market chain in the United States of America. He said the 130,000 cashew is valued at $7 billion. Chief Ogbeh said the US firm came to Nigeria to request for 130,000 tonnes of roasted cashew nuts and their demand is 130,000 tonnes of cashew nuts per annum, with a total value of $7 billion. “We are in conversations with Walmart, the biggest supermarket chain in the US. They came here and asked us to roast cashew nuts for them. “What Nigeria currently does is ship the nuts to Vietnam, which in turn roasts and sell to the US. A 27-year-old woman from Nkumba Central, Wakiso District of Uganda has been found dead with stick stock in her private part. Residents of the area were left in shock yesterday after the body of the lady, identified as Rose Nakimuli, was found dumped at a banana plantation naked and a stick inserted in her private part. According to Daily Monitor, this comes barely three days after a 17- year-old girl, Norah Wayana was discovered killed in the same manner and body dumped in a banana plantation near her parent’s home in the same area.
